Quick Solutions to Help Build a Mobile Site

Google’s mobile site templates make it easier for businesses to create a mobile site and increase their mobile search presence.

Mobile SiteBecause there are already too many articles out there stressing the importance of creating a mobile presence, I’ll spare you the talking points and just get right to the point: You can now create a mobile site that, while it may not work as a permanent solution, can at least allow you to dip your toes in the water. And you can do it for next to nothing and very few technical skills.

While a search on “Mobile Site Templates” will return a slew of sites that are to mobile site templates what WordPress is to web templates, things just got more serious because Google has joined the fray with their own set of mobile site templates.

It’s a simple, basic solution that will serve users a mobile version of your site with just the information they need. And because it’s a Google template, you know you’re getting a search-friendly solution you can trust to get the job done.

For example, say you’re a restaurant, which is exactly the type of industry where mobile is becoming most valuable and important. Google has a mobile site template for you that will allow you to serve users a landing page with your logo, an area for other images or text like your hours, and a prominent phone number that users can click to call. In addition, at the bottom of the page, there are links to coupons, menu, and directions. As the image shows, all of this appears on the page so that users won’t have to scroll to see the restaurant’s most important information.

Mobile Site

Even if you’re not a restaurant, Google has a template for you. They have Local Business templates, which allow you to list products and promotions; Lead Generation with a click to subscribe button; Social which has links to all of your social sites like Twitter, facebook, YouTube, etc.; eCommerce for product sales – with pricing; and Custom, in case none of these work for you. And because they’re templates, there is no reason you can’t customize any of these if you have a skilled development team.

Mobile Site

The bottom line is that creating a mobile site no longer takes a huge budget; it just takes a little time and planning.

ARIZONAWho hasn’t heard about the many riches of the Grand Canyon? Arizona is home to one of the most beautiful national parks on the entire globe. The desert regions and their characteristic flora and fauna both captivate and intrigue the imagination of the others. It’s no wonder so many western movies have been shot here. What is lesser known is the attention horror movie producers pay to Arizona. Actually, Psycho’s plot was set in this particular state.

People living here are just as warm as the weather. Expect the traditional Southern hospitality, so famous in the US. They are hardworking individuals and their state has many laws guaranteeing its citizens’ work rights. Because of the weather conditions in this place, talking to Arizonians can be quite amusing. They don’t associate nature with green spaces and flora with actual flowers. Gardens to them can mean a display of rocks and dust. And who said bridges should make you think of water? The lands supposedly hide the legendary Chupacabra. The heat has some other side effects. In Arizona, it’s illegal to refuse someone asking for a glass of water. It’s also a felony to cut down cacti, which is understandable given the rare forms of life here.

ARIZONAIndeed, Arizona’s deserts have a very diverse and rarely seen vegetation. The Saguaro Cactus is their state plant. The beauty of the flowers blooming in the middle of the desert usually amazes visitors, including the glowing, bright buds of Palo Verde. The Oak-Creek Canyon resembles an oasis midst the red sands and beautiful rock formations of the state. The Meteor Crater attracts tons of tourists too. Chiricahua, the Huachuca Fort and San Xavier del Bac speak of the Indian presence in this region. Copper mines are a distinctive landmark, since Arizona is the top producer of the US. Parties in Arizona can get loud and are a nice way to introduce yourself to the others, so don’t miss any celebration!

THE HBK FEAT. 50 CENT: “UP REMIX”LoveRance extended the shelf life of his carnal sex anthem “Up!” with a new video featuring 50 Cent and directed by Oakland native, Taj Stansberry. Iamsu and Skippa are still along for the ride in a club scene thick with New Bay fervor. As though that weren’t enough star power for the new Inter-scope signee, Big Von unleashed another remix featuring Young Jeezy and T.I. too. The Bay will never spit on big name cosigns, but it’s hard not to view this as another example of mainstream hip-hop being hella late to the west coast party. I could have sworn we were slap-pin this song in late 2010! Early 2011 at the latest.

In related swagger-jacking news, many a Bay-lien cried foul at the lack of Bayness present in Drake and Weezy’s “Motto” video, so perhaps they’ll be pacified by a few turf dancers and shots of the water in the “Up!” video. I don’t think either do The Bay Area justice, but I don’t think either should. They are mainstream music videos, not community video mosaics. No one 4 minute clip will ever be able to embody our collective spirit and lifestyle. That said, if we’re unhappy with the media that seeks to portray us, we should make doper shit ourselves, straight up.

As trendsetters, we’re always out looking for the next gold mine, but we tend to let Johnny-cum-lately corporations play us to the left and rob us of our earnings. When will The Bay learn to make Levis? If this doesn’t make sense, read up on your California history. Gold miners didn’t get rich during the gold rush, the company that invented denim did. Until we learn how to build something that lasts, we’ll forever be the land of swag and fleeting fads. Swag won’t get your daughter through college, and it won’t win you respect. 2012 is a year to be majestic; don’t fall for the okey
